The Walls in My Mind
My life has been written
on the walls of my mind
hour after hour
year after year
the words building up
straining like water
against the dam
I built
a cage made of silence and strength
thinking it could save me from looking back
But dams break
and so did I
the words tumbling onto paper
until the walls were clear
the cage empty
and I was no longer a prisoner
holding myself captive.
