The Wanderer

I wander through the past, wondering where we went awry,

The memories become a vortex of giving up, when we should’ve given it a try.

When colors fade, and voices grow weary,

Will it be you that makes this life dreary?

This house trembles with the immensity of our mistakes,

The once solid ground beneath my feet now quakes.

Your soft gaze upon me is now filled with scorn,

Do you regret the day that I was born?

Darkness obstructs the fervency in your eyes,

The fleeting moments of joy are drowned out by your sighs.

I strain to find a smile in the contours of your face,

But will disappointment and worry be the lines that I trace?

I wander through the future, dreaming of filling your face with pride,

Whether I rise or fall, it is you I want by my side.

Can we repeal our blunders, accept and forgive,

Or is it too late for the both of us to live?
