A Wandering Mind

 Dear God,

Why must life be this way?

Through the empty halls I roam,

I know not why I seek lost memories.

Words are no longer shared,

yet I dream of the day my thoughts are heard.

I look to you for guidance.

Where is your guidance?

I read your words, yet you have denied my need to know your way.

In a dark corner I longed to be heard,

but you are the reason my mind is left to roam.

The thoughts and feelings that were once shared,

are nothing now but broken memories.

I blame myself for tainting these memories.

I asked, pleaded, for worldly guidance,

and of the idols that answered, their knowledge they shared.

Listening, I grasped onto their way.

I allowed their evil to pick the paths I was to roam.

She spoke loudly, but her voice was not heard.

The only voices of which were heard

were the daunting whispers of longing memories.

Challenging my wish to roam,

I outreached for you needing your guidance.

I outreached to you to show me the righteous way.

I outreached to you, but your knowledge was not shared.

I outreached to her, hoping her thoughts would be shared.

The cold shoulder as my cries of desperation were not heard.

Slowly, helplessness came my way.

Depression began the suppression of memories.

Satan began tempting me with his guidance,

leading me to water; the dark depths I've begun roam.

The murky water pulls me deeper as my desire is to no longer roam.

It taunts me with the times shared.

Overloading with worldly guidance

I scream to you, praying my heart is heard,

yet all I see are memories.

Memories I strive to revive every which way.

My mind roams the fields, alongside those who were not heard.

Never forgetting what was shared, our memories.

Why am I blind to your guidance? Your love is the only way.
