The Want of Acceptance
I've known hardships:
I've known hardships as as bad as wanting to feel accepted.
My want has grown stronger that the love of a mother to a child.
I changed the way I dressed when hope wasn't a silly thing.
I built up my strength just for it to be knocked down like the Tower of Babel.
I have thought I wasn't good enough to to realize I was more than good enough.
I have heard both good and bad things about myself in many bitter-sweet harmonies.
I've known the want of being accepted:
Agonizingly, absent. acceptance.
My want has grown stronger than the love of a mother to a child.
