Wanted
I was more lonely, than I was ready,
and you were more needy, than you were steady.
You would say, “I love you” and grab my waist.
You would kiss my neck, then lie to my face.
Our lips would meet, but it wasn’t love
Because you would leave when it got tough.
You’d pull me close, and whisper dreams.
They left me restless, I couldn’t sleep.
But when I tried to whisper back,
you’d push away and not react.
I was wanted, I was craved
but I wasn’t needed,
I was betrayed.
Then the smiles left,
and the tears came.
I felt something worse than average pain.
I couldn’t stand it, it was too much.
Then I realized,
I wanted you to touch me with your words,
not your lust.
