Wanting

I long to make a difference.

To be the reason someone decided

to face another day.

I long to speak out.

To voice my ideas and opinions

Instead of stay where I am

Timidly hiding behind the shadows.

I want to be loved.

I'm tired of being thrown to the curb

and taken advantage of.

I yearn to be noticed.

I'm exhausted with being just another face in the crowd

a blur that will soon be forgotten.

I want to embrace originality

Instead of beat myself up because

I can't meet society's expectations.

I'm tired of being chained to my insecurities

like a prisoner

I want to stand up, be bold,

Be the leader I'm destined to be.

I want to please others

I want them to be proud of me

I want so many things, but most of all

I want to be me

Not what others expect me to be

Not the me that happens after

I alter the unappealing parts

I want to be every bit of the

imperfect, complex, confusing, insane,

loving, funny, artistic, loud

person that happens to be me

I want to express myself

And finally let go of the expectations and opinions

That are holding me back
