The War

There was a war

My pa-pa was in singapore

He was as silent as the seashore

But he forgot there was a door

I never saw him at the candy store

And i didn’t see him at lakeshore

I didn’t see him at the bookstore

And I didn’t see him at my front door

As I stood there and waited at my door

But it was silent, my screen door

I thought maybe he was done for

Why did he have to go to war

I stood there for a long time

And then my eyes started to sore

Until I heard his voice soar

He was standing at my front door
