War Child

Dark alleyways where the light that shines is none

a child sits in silence so old but yet so young.

Tears they flow but can't be seen for they are somewhere trapped inside

a bleeding heart that hopes for dreams and faded lullabies.

What horrors have you seen child that makes you hide inside

that silent world you live that allows you to survive?

And those that try to penetrate the wall you've bound so tight

give up to say you're lost to the memories of your plight.

Pictures can fade and walls erode away

but will this child have the chance to voice to make a sound

or will she go unheard in this world we've handed down?
