War of Roses

I watch you dance,
Twirling about on the open balcony

In the golden rays,
You turn to me and smile.

Eyes of the sky,
Urging me to stay awhile.

The roses that grow near,
Seem to show life than fear.

Open my heart to you, I can.
Dance with me, my love, again.

In steps of two, so soft and sweet
Under the warmth, between the roses.

But would you still dance with me,
If those eyes truly saw?

Would you surrender under will,
To this war if you could feel?

Would you touch my lips,
If only to miss?

But together we dance
Twirling away, in steps of two.

Our sanctuary we hold as one,
This war is over, for we have won.
