War of the Words

Razor words whistle viciously as the decisive move is made

Phrases sharp as diamond blades arrive on Judgment Day

Spoken word commands attention to the problems of the day

That I may fight with my voice high is my quest among the fray

Emotions, philosophy, political flame wars, I leave out none of them

For passion surges through my veins and blossoms from my stem

A brain to think, a hand to write, another hand to wield

A sword in my left, a pen in my right, and so I relinquish my shield

May the power of verse forever be its own protection

My war will be waged with words
