War of Words.

I look up and around

and all I see

is a beautiful girl

getting down on her knees

she is praying to god

or the police

for her power

it is ours

shes only twelve years old

she dont even know

that her voice is a weapon

to protect her soul

she’s going back and forth

wondering if

shes wearing long or short

because her legs were a gift

from the god above

but who don’t give a shit

because she feels beautiful

no matter what she is in

that is power

for the now

i look up and around

and all i see

is a beautiful girl

getting down on her knees

now she is all grown up

boys they’re telling her

that her body’s a sin

and they can confirm

because they holler and shout

when she gets it all out

she's not feeling gratitude

she’s stumbling in doubt

and then she looks out

for a way to express

and finds the pen and paper

within her life’s mess

and she writes it all down

slowly at first

but then she sets fire

and the words will burst

onto the page

and onto the wall

her emotions are words

and the pencil her tool

to let the world know

how she suffers in pain

but now the word’s out

she is no longer the same

because her voice is her weapon

and with words she has slain.
