A Warm Hug

I wake up every morning

and look to the bed one my side

and find him sleeping

calm, closed eyes.

I push out and walk

over by him and plant

a soft kiss on his cheek

and fix his kicked off blanket

I take my clothes and bag

and quietly shut the door behind me,

whispering "I love you" on my way out

and begin the day I live

I come back home and drag myself upstairs

change my clothes and brush my hair

and wait for the bell to ring

and his voice and footsteps

He runs to me and

jumps into my arms

I give him a kiss

and hug him tight

My lovely little brother, I couldn't imagine me without him.
