Warmth Over Stone

I wish I were colder sometimes, Less soft, less forgiving, Less willing to give my heart To people who hold it carelessly. But when I look back at myself, I realize without that tenderness, Without the way I love so passionately, I would not be me. And maybe that's the painful beauty of it all That even after everything, My heart still chooses warmth Never becoming stone.
