Warning to Mariners

The wrecks might drift for a while

On the current or with the wind

But they will change to stationary objects

And they will fall from grace with the sea

If they interfere with navigation

They are noted on charts

Or even dragged from the bottom

And left elsewhere

Always new ones are discovered

The ones that float just near the surface

They haven't yet decided to sink

They rock slowly, sadly imitating a ship

The space shuttle Discovery wrecked

In the high air and

The solid rocket boosters alone were

Still afloat, still on the correct heading

They left the wreckage behind

And headed out to sea

Those that are dangerous

A hazard to navigation

Brave the deep without

A soul aboard
