A warrior in me

I wish I could live in a world, Where catcalls and lewd comments aren't hurled, Where the lines of decency aren't blurred, Where my thoughts and opinions are heard. I wish I could live in a world, Where the length of my shorts doesn't matter, Where my views aren't interrupted by useless chatter, Where the hopes and dreams of little girls aren't shattered. I wish I could live in a world, Where women who play sports, not just those who cook are considered skilled, Where insecurities and submissiveness into our minds aren't drilled, Where the blood and dignity of innocent women isn't spilled. When will people begin to realize That women need equity, not just equality? That women need dignity, not just safety? That women aren't anyone's property - they have their own identity? I promise to be the voice of the women who can't speak. I promise to stand up for the rights of those strong or weak. From the battle of equity I shall never flee. For you see, I have the spirit of a warrior in me.
