Warsong
I sing of war
I sing of Death
and dying
the latter – which does not seem to me
so bold and heroic as some believe
I sing of presidents
I sing of Time
and timing
the former – whose consideration of the latter
when dealing with life and death, to me, borders on blasphemy
I sing of God
I sing of gods
and the universe
believe what you want, but ask yourself
the paradox in a Creator approving; hell, willing destruction
(and what if you and I are next?)
I sing of intelligence
I sing of brothers
and of men
you think your bombs and your guns lend credence
tell me when bravado has ever not been viewed as over-compensation
I sing of peace
I pray for peace
and Creation
for there is no beauty in destruction, nor glory in murder
, neither did my God or your God command us to do anything but love
(love one another
even if our presidents told us otherwise)
and I have to think We can do better.
