Wash Me Clean
Pretty face
A work of art
A picture of grace
She walks slow
Talks easy
She goes
Where she has to go
She says
Whatever she has to
To make it by
Make it through
Another long day
But tonight
She's wearing down
A bottle of whiskey
Won't save her now
A long drag
Won't make it better
She can't erase
The stain
The mark
Because some scars
Are just too deep
Too raw
Some things
You just can't erase
That's what they say
Pretty face
But ugly wounds
On the inside
She's all torn up
Worn down
On the inside
On the inside
She's bleeding
Rubbed too raw
She's seen it all
Been everywhere
And all she wants
What she desperately needs
Is a million years
Of sleep
Because
That pretty face
Doesn't get her what she wants
When what she wants
Mean something
Matters
At the end
Of a long day
A hard day
She has nothing left to give
Nothing left to say
Mouth dry
From fighting back
Giving all she has
To strangers
Who don't care
It's all too easy
To not care
Right back
Take my pretty face
She says
It don't mean a damn thing to me
Take this little house
It won't hold up my heart
When it gets heavy
With pain
When it rains
Take it all away
Wash me clean
Please
Wipe me clean
I'm tired
Of being tired
And this broken heart
Is getting harder to carry
So please
Wash me clean
