To Watch

I am addicted to Netflix.

I used to be addicted to books.

It's all the same:

To watch,

To experience through observing,

But not participating.

I've done well in school,

But I could have done even better

If I wasn't so caught watching,

Instead of acting.

Maybe I would be more content,

Feel more prepared,

Because soon I won't be sheltered any more

Soon I won't be able

To watch

Soon I will have to be independent.

To watch

Is to think you have learned,

To think you're prepared and observant,

But who knows, when your experiences are not really yours

And not even real.

No longer do I want to watch.

It's not enough to watch,

So more and more

I want to depart, I want this new journey,

I want to grow wings, I want to know,

I want to participate.

College and education is the path to this new life.

I'm ready to begin this new journey. I'm ready to be

bold.

I'm ready for the

future untold.
