Watching

There is a reason I am here today
There are many things I want to say

I almost gave up, stopped breathing
I kept all my emotions inside, seething

Hating for no reason at all
Hating my body, so skinny and tall

Didn’t want my heart to beat
Then I turned to lyrics and a beat

I wrote songs, full of sadness and anger,
Feelings on my sleeve like a coat on a hanger

I came so far from where I was
And that’s what falling in love does

It helps you, heals wounds, fixes breaks
When you love somebody, it raises the stakes

Justin, you have a reason to keep going
Just keep writing poems, keep it flowing

Don’t stop the loving and caring
Don’t fade out and start the staring

Don’t black out, and do something wrong
Pick up paper and pen, write a song

Release your deepest thoughts and fears,
Look at that paper, covered in your tears.

Realize you have a purpose on Earth
There’s a reason your mom gave birth

Such a beautiful kid, so much potential
This life is yours, and it is essential

You have those who love you and care
It may give you a fright and a scare

Learn to take love and give it back
Gotta stay strong, just don’t crack

Keep it together, people are watching,
Keep it together, people are watching.
