Watching from the Sidelines

I feel the cold wind of betrayal blow, From one I never thought would cause me pain. She is my sister—surely she wouldn't go And break the sacred ties we share in vain? I pray it isn't true, but actions speak, And lately, she has wandered from the light. So I must step aside, no longer weak, And slowly raise my shield against the night. She does the very things she swore she'd shun, A tragic script playing out on the shelf, And I am left here, watching what she's done, A silent casualty, protecting myself.
