Watching the World Go By

For many years of my life, I have watched the world go by

Seeing the wrongdoings of the world, then going home just to cry

I never knew that the world was so corrupt until one day

I turn on the news and saw an 18 year old passed away

Although she was not of my kin

We share the same color of skin

So I took that to the heart, and searched for courage from within

I believed I had little impact, that my voice would remain unknown

But I curled that fear into a ball, and made my progress shown

Although you have one voice, that does not make you belittled

Your one voice may speak for others, while still remaining civil

Its better than sitting back and still remaining quiet

Anything is better than just watching the world go by
