Water

I am not water

Yet you can see through me.

All my imperfections

Are on display for thee.

I am not a doormat

Yet you step onto me.

Wipe your dirt on my face

And expect me to be...

I am not water

Yet you drink me in.

And examine my whole life--

Evaluate each sin.

I am not a remote

Yet you push my buttons.

Then you act surprised

If I'm upset all of the sudden.

I am not water

Yet you need me to stay alive.

And I wonder if I leave,

Baby, will you thrive?
