water

splish

splash

splish

how is it so easy to dive in like that?

“come in, take my hand! ill never let you fall” she says

i take a hesitant step forward,

but memories of being sucked in by the

cold

            blue

water flow back

“what will you do when you’re stuck in a titanic situation?” she asks

closing my eyes, i think, “you’re right. i have to learn.” i plunge.

cold. cold. cold water folds over my body, running through

my hair,

my arms,

my legs,

as I feel the water touch my fingers, she lifts me up.

whew.

slowly, she takes my hands, puts them in hers, and tells me to kick.

the water still seems ominous,

but i know she won’t let me fall.
