Water

Water has so many qualities and characteristics, from lapping to splashing; just like me.

I am clear; clear-headed, succinct, specific, open-faced and obvious, articulate, vocal and expressive; pooling my thoughts as they lap at my frontal cortex.

Most recently, I am a laughing, giggling brook, skipping lightly to and fro, over slippery pebbles merging with other streams as we tumble our way through our youthful, shimmering lives from dance classes, football games, service projects, and even studying and work.  The world is my ocean and I surge toward my charted course with excited anticipation of the bright future that lies on the horizon!

One drop of anything - a bug, a flower petal, a droplet of water, a single, diving swimmer - anything that alters the still surface, creates rings that reverberate throughout the pool, and so it is with me.  One tiny event, influence, or occurrence in my life, whether positive, negative, or in between, is capable of producing reactions within my heart, soul, and brain, manifesting themselves through feelings of curiosity that compel me to delve deeper.

Whether the weather calls for crashing waves or peaceful seas, sentiments that tug at my feelings might make me breathe “awww” or “ahhhh”.  A bright humor, of which I have a good sense, creates cascades of contagious bubbling laughter.  An angry storm may intermittently brew, too!   A large, cannonball-splash in my usually placid pool of life, froths forth feelings of aggravation, frustration, and annoyance generating waves in my ocean of emotions.  As any unfortunate balance of nature tends to do, these stormy days make the typically sunny days sunnier and more precious!

Look deeper, beyond my occasional calm, wide-eyed gaze and see a sparking imagination and mind that undulate with possibilities as I sail towards that ever-promising rainbow on the horizon!
