Waterfalls

Poetry isn't something you can control.

Writing is bleeding from your heart and thrusting it at the world.

It's not just stanzas and rhymes and chapters and pages.

It's experience and emotion and pain and joy.

Poetry is not the lines you were forced to write in class.

It's the ones you heard in you mind but found nothing blank to put it on so you expelled all thoughts from your mind so that, at the first sight of a blank wall, you want to throw paint and wrote it a million times and finish it a million more times until your wrist cramps and fingers are numb but you can't bear to leave your canvas because ideas keep flowing like a never ending waterfall.

However,

even the biggest of waterfalls dry

because that is writing

that is poetry.

Poetry isn't something you can control,

but every poet will spend their whole life trying.
