Waterproof Watches & Rooftops
Your teardrops would strike me in the face and all over my body
I remember you'd wipe me off and repeat the word "sorry"
Although I was a waterproof watch
You could dive into an ocean of emotions with me latched onto you and nearly drown me and I'd still function correctly, do it and you'll see
You'd play with me when you were unsure of your surroundings
Sometimes you'd bump into something and leave scratches on my clean cut glass
And I would let it pass because I knew that wouldn't be the last
You'd tighten me around you until I left marks then loosen me up when it got hot
You'd push my buttons and explore my different functions
I was there for you every minute of the day, whether it was 2:37pm or 4:15am
But you were tricky to get to
I would have to climb a few flight of stairs just to get to you
I'd be exhausted by then but I would still try my best to reach you
You were always tilted, unbalanced, unstable
Some of your green, rough tiles were lifted, but you managed, you were able
To still be there, way up high
I used to lay on you and read my favorite books until I fell asleep or I'd simply sit there to cry
You wouldn't say much and I found comfort in your presence alone
But when you spoke
It was a completely different story
Every time I heard your voice I knew there was no need to worry
You were my rooftop
I'd rather be up there with you than sitting at my favorite coffee shop
