Water's Edge

By the water's edge:

He stares,

She giggles,

Their toes tingle in the cool liquid.

The sun is setting,

He sighs,

She frowns,

Must they leave this peaceful place?

They crossed the river,

He lept,

She twirled,

And breezes swept them safely over.

But now the sun sets.

He stands,

She follows:

The sun will set a million times.

It also rises.

He smiles,

She smiles,

The sun will also rise on them.
