Waves

waves

crashing along the shore

washing away the feelings

washing away the pain

an abundance of water

embraces my feet

like a greeting from

someone I need

a constant breeze

tickling my cheek

in the dark of the night

as if I have someone

there for me

scarred limbs are covered

in icy water

numbing the past

wanting the peace to last

but the damn scars

are still there

and cannot seem to fade

a sharp inhale

as the water reaches my chest

my brain is numb

along with my toes

is there any other place to go?

the tides draw me under

I struggle

I scream

I gasp for air

but no one is there

no one can hear

the waves are

taking me under

and all I want

is to be free

i’m drowning

while watching

everyone else breathe

why can’t they just see

what it is that I need?

I can't even scream

the tides are

tugging at my feet

dragging me down

and I think

I think that I will let them

slowly I start to feel peace

I can no longer see

and my heart does not beat

I am finally free
