The Way it Is

Well sometimes it ain’t right

But oh well, that’s just life

And the way the story goes, when the wind blows

In the wrong direction.

When the sun light

Makes me turn away, instead of face my day

All I can say is

It just wasn’t meant to be, you loving me

In this life, by my side, with kind words

And sometimes life just hurts

But it is what it is

Always, your loving kid

And when I met her, I should have loved her

Should have showed her right

Held my sister tight

Said good night

And done it all the next day

Now all I can say…is

It just wasn’t meant to be, her loving me, and me loving her

In this life, by my side,

Saying kind words

And it hurts

Oh! But it is what it is

Sometimes

Some of just lose sight

Of everything that should have mattered

And just like that old dusty book on that worn out stand

Wisdom fills the pages, of the lessons we didn’t learn

And some day, it’ll be someone else’s turn

But hope fills

What pain kills

And I pray

That unlike us,

Lord, they see the way

They stand up to the day

They right our wrongs…

And stand tall

Get back up when they fall

Learn to say it’s okay

And love despite it all, anyway.
