The Way We Use Our Words

Location

Can we take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

It's not all black and white but a mixture,

of black and whites and Asians and Latino. Straight or not, we act like we know.

We know that words have power, yet we throw the word gay around like it's an insult when it should be an empowerment. We call each other stupid, when in reality, this is just negative endorsement.

So many years we spend trying to fix our hair in the mirror, just to be called beautiful.

So many people not realizing that these words we speak are powerful.

But it's not the words that we say that stop anyone from taking their life but the silence that we deprive them of late in the night.

Let them speak, and we will listen to what they have to say.

It might not be black and white, but one million shades of gray.

Tell a stranger they are intelligent, valuble. BEAUTIFUL.

Then maybe we can change the way we speak: for every word is powerful.
