The Way The World Forgot You

Sometimes I see you in my dreams

When I do, I hug you a little tighter

because I already know

When I open my eyes

You would be gone

Not because you weren't real

but because you passed on

quiet, not loud

like the kind of quiet

that still lingers in the room

though I wish that were true

I wish heaven had a phone

So maybe I could hear your voice

or maybe at least just a little noise.

I wish I could tell you what you've missed

but then again you probably wouldn't wanna know

what man mom kissed.

it's the way the world forgot you

that I don't understand,

It feels like just yesterday

you were right here holding my hand.

The photos fade faster then I thought

they hardly say your name anymore

like your a closed door.

I still talk to you

In the quiet corners of my mind

when the sun slips through my window,

or when I hear the word kind.

The world forgot you, but I remain

still carrying pieces of your name.

Everytime the glass shines through

I see myself but I see you too.
