We Are Christians
We are Christians
Called to grace by a God who excused our excuses
A mercy that visibly moves us
To have compassion for the confused, us
We
Together
Fellowship we fall under
Community we cling longer, a bond meant to grow stronger
But we are failing
In churches and school systems
Separation of church and state
A term taken too literally
Expectations and plans turned upside down by politicians and predators when we should be looking for peace
I am still praying for this nation who puts a president at the head with rocks strapped to his chest and pushes him in water praying he won't drown
But aren't we all drowning
In a country where our judgement comes as easily as our water
Splashing here and there on those who can't see the beautiful mystery we have hidden too far in our hearts
Is it up to only us to believe
We are Christians?
Claiming the lords mercy while mercilessly slandering those who don’t follow
We are putting up walls and tearing down expectations
Yelling bible verses in the ears of the deaf
Instead of giving healing
Storming in with laws instead of taking back nations with the Word in our jaws
How can we be ready in and out of season
When our fruit hasn’t even been planted?
Where are our roots?
Are we rooted in fertile soil that the living water has nourished, tending to our gardens and daily washing in the blood of the lamb?
Or are we slaughtering Him calling it sacrifice to the snake that slithers through our secret place disguised in false beauty and goodness
When he offers you the fruit of the world
Do you take it?
Your golden apple, your Midas touch
They are fools gold compared to the streets we will walk
But if you only accept the gold plated, like the Jesus license plate you claim as your only representation
You will go smelling like the smog you let run wild like your tongue against the ones we are supposed to be saving, not shaving away like the hair on our skin
Remember who wrapped you in it
We are Christians.
“When I say to a wicked person ‘you will surely die’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, the wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”
- Ezekiel 3:18 (NIV)
