We Are Down the Drain
Music up, mind out, spirit high, tension low. I sit criss cross, laced fingers cradling my neck, as the constant drops trickle down my back. What I once outlawed from these flashbacks of mine, was that simple lip lock I froze in time. Grasping this moment as if it wasn’t more than a second, I stood slowly, silently, humming the song you once whispered. “Would you believe me if I said I’m in love?”
Lapping at my feet, over flowing from the drain, I let the water rush once more over my head, washing away my thoughts of innocence. Left all alone, this time by choice, so badly I wanted to hear your voice. “I want you to want me.”
A door inched open, lights flickered once, twice, and “you’re done.” Snapped back into brutal reality, the steady stream deceased. Soaked to the bone. This was my time, a silent moan.
“Got me up all night, all I’m singing is love songs.” Do I want this shower song to be heard? Only by you, my heartbreaker.
