We are the Hate

Why do we pretend it’s alright? Pretend we don’t see the hate Pretend we don’t feel the hate, There are people all around us Being discriminated against Being put down, And all we do is watch Telling our children not to do that Telling ourselves we’re better, The color of our skin Our sexual orientation Our religion, They all define who we are How we think How we feel, It’s never a bad thing when it Doesn’t happen to us Doesn’t affect us, How can we stand by? Watching people suffer Watching people be oppressed, We always accuse others but It’s not them It’s us, We are the ones that hate That oppress That let it go on, Why do we pretend it’s alright? We cause the hate We are the hate.
