We Are Not Alone

I know what it's like

To lose yourself every night.

(You are not alone)

Hope often seems lost, despite

What we see and what we feel

We will make it through.

(We are not alone)

We fight together for pain to pass.

It's the most we can do

Through these unseen wars we wage inside.

(We are not alone)

So when darkness rears its head, resist.

And through your turmoil, remember this:

In the hearts of your friends, you will always have a home.

We are not alone.

My favorite verse of the poem is the final one, as it focuses on resolve and strength, and overcoming the dark temptaion of depression. The biggest step to overcoming an issue like depression or anxiety is making the decision to try on your own to overcome it. Equally important is to always remember that regardless of where you are or who you are with, a piece of you resides safely in the hearts of those you hold dear, as love transcends distance and circumstance.
