We are not laughing

We soar through the air

Our hands grasping each other’s as we run

We fall onto the grass laughing

But we’re not laughing anymore are we?

We were once so youthful and had the world at our hands

Now I am broken and you are sad and we cannot fit

The world pushed you down and broke you

The world took from me and left me hardened

We are not laughing anymore are we

Struggling to make it, day to day

Love left my heart, it’s little more than a myth now

Love left your life, it’s little more than dead now

We are not laughing anymore

Our hands cling to ourselves now

We are afraid to touch anything lest we get attached

Or lest the feelings never come

Your love was taken

My innocence was stolen

We are not laughing
