We Are One

To be there for one another

While we heal and find happiness,

And lay down the parts of me

That I don’t find nice.

Accepting and opening,

Running into a warm embrace

And even though we may be upset the night before,

I still wake up happy because it’s a new day.

My tears are your tears

And yours are mine.

We stand by each other

Though we may view things differently sometimes.

I am open to your new ideas on life,

And yearn to hear you talk about the things you love.

I enjoy meeting you after a long day

And listening to your stories about work.

The best thing about us

Is that when I’m with you,

You are exactly who you want to be

And I’m who I want to be.

We lift each other up

And we aren’t shy or scared with each other.

I am honored to be seen with you.

I am proud to be with you.

Because I love you,

We are meant to be.

Because I love you,

We are one.
