We Are One
In everyday time, we are separate
divorced from one another by duty
like words by spaces.
Logic and imagination, conscience and emotion.
Compartmentalized.
Departmentalized.
When she writes, it’s like we’re having a party
we can mix
and mingle
and the words wash out onto a page.
We are different mostly
But sometimes we are the same, too.
Her mind is awash with ideas, questions,
half-formed answers as yet unpolished
by the harsh scrub of scrutiny.
When we’re together,
We can bring those answers out,
can bring those questions out,
bring those ideas out.
When we are one,
We bring ideas out.
