We Are People
Today I was asked what defines me.
What defines me?
I want to say it’s something philosophical and rich with meaning.
I want to say it’s something that sets me apart from everyone else.
I want to say that I am always original and one of kind, but
I am only a person.
People are not objects.
We are not stationary.
We move.
We change.
We grow.
I am not stationary.
I move.
I change.
I grow.
Life has taken me through various situations,
Ones I wish I could forget.
Life has taken me in and out of people’s lives,
For reasons I may never know.
I had to move.
I had to change.
Things will never be the same.
Today I am curious.
Today I am full of life.
Today I look to my future.
Tomorrow I might be apathetic.
Tomorrow I might be dead tired.
Tomorrow I might look back at my past.
I have no definition.
And neither do you.
Because we are people.
People are not objects.
We are not stationary.
We move.
We change.
We grow.
