We ARE the same
We ARE the same
Yes, it's true
The melanin in my skin
Makes me no better or worse than you
To some I may be darker
And to some I may be lighter
But we should all have
These same desires
The desire to stick together
And love one another
Like a newborn baby
Sticks to and loves their mother
The desire to pick each other up
Off of this cold world's ground
Without looking for the fame
Only doing it if cameras are around
No, you may not look like, walk like, or talk like them
And that's okay
Because even though we have differences
We ARE the same
This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
