We Are There

People say we don’t understand because our ancestors haven’t gone through it, because we haven’t gone through it. But they were there, and we are there. Some stood by watching, as some do now. Knowing it’s wrong but not knowing what to say, or to do. But they were there, and we are there. Some only watched, but some helped. They housed those running away. They gave courage to the ones standing their ground. Then they voted for who could help more, and now we vote for the differences and change that they have been fighting for. They helped when they could. and we will help when we can. But they were there, and we are there.
