We are the Writers

We are the Writers

We build the walls that hide us from the sun.

We plant the seeds of who we shall become.

We sing the songs that carry through the ages.

We are the characters, the actors on many stages.

We may triumph today and lose tomorrow.

We may live our days on smiles that we borrow.

We may feel lonely like a single star in the sky,

We may take a while to discover our wings and fly.

Who we are, the beautiful and the hidden,

The little voice inside that comes even when forbidden,

That is the person who has from the start,

Dreamed of finding themselves with all their heart.

Hardships and challenges come to help define,

The characters of who we are and the mountains that we climb.

Though we may hide behind the walls that we create,

That doesn’t mean that our life is a blank slate,

We are the artists, musicians and the fighters,

We write our lives; we are the writers.
