We Artists

we artists
work hard
holding
our scars
to the
stars
in a
no-holds
barred
attempt
to make
sense
of the
present's
perfect
tense
and we
will not
repent
if you
take
offense,
if your
tiny world
view
can't
expand
to construe
that what
we're holding
forth
wasn't
meant just
for you.
