We Black Men

We black men

May as well surrender

Our soul

For soon they’ll be coming to claim

Though guilty of no crime

Our destruction is their aim

We must ‘of done it

If not now, back then

If not now, only,

a matter of when

Our past, our present, our future

Tainted by unproven mistrust

So, criminally insane,

be we must

Rotten to the core

Worthy of the mighty cuss

Ain’t that why

we are shot dead in the streets

Choked out until

From our body

The last breath leaves

Ain’t that why

were stripped of manhood

given the least

to subsist

And never enough for us

To resist

Procuring our own prosperity

Obtaining our goods,

By any means

Ain’t that why

juries are stacked

with the colors of injustice

which certainly ain’t black

And now, even

our most precious deeds

Are under attack
