We the children feel it too

Can you imagine how it could feel

Too be a child drowning in the world around them.

How it could possibly be that you can wake up every morning

still breathing in sync,

but choking on every breath you take,

as though you have to force it out of your body.

This is me, at a mere eleven years as I pry myself out of my slumber,

into the cold harsh world that has fallen around me,

to trudge through another day in a life that I no longer strived to live in.
