We Dont Always Lose

As I climb, each step elevates me into greater feats

Forget less, I travel the road least taken .

Theres greatness, just up that mountain

Few are equipped enough to commit to this journey and even  less will understand where  strength for it comes

It doesn't  materialize through air but instead is a provision from those who have voyaged before

During my pilgrimage  the testing wind begins  to stir and eventually creates my downfall

But as long as I'm falling I might as well plummet forward

Instead of the expected dirt fresh water greets my blow

New found wisdom powers me as I drink

Teaching me that rather than running from, I should instead stand strong against winds promised to come again

The swift in race have begun to fall at my side

While I steadfast in heart endure

Joining those left  we near the final stretch

Victors at the top give their welcome and finally we rest from what seemed as glorious eternity

But shortly after we've begun slumber our predecessors start to shake us wake

They point

Once hidden by clouds but now in plain sight a steeper mountain presents itself

Without question we now understand our true purpose

Not reaching the level those before have landed, but instead obtaining higher ground

So as we set out to hike again , we smile , anticipant of the day well mark our own territory

Then someday in the distant future we'll point to the horizons discovering with joy the formation of a new peak up ahead
