We, Have Dreams Too

We, Have dreams too.

We have dreams too, we are our own people we aren't created from a fable rather we are made equal to you as well as the rest of you. We are not cattle lined up for the slaughter rather we are teenagers who had our worlds deprived of laughter because rather then learning how to be a child we spent our time learning how to hide in case the man was anything more than mild.

We, Are not objects.

We aren't. We are not your mannequins who you can dress up how you want and become accustomed to your wont no we are our own persons who have our own reasons for being who we are and not who you want us to be.

We, Are not idiots,

We are geniuses. In the time it took you to destroy the world you live in we took this broken crib that we grew up in and are making it beautiful again. We are not launching missiles and nukes rather we are planting trees and cleaning the brooks polluted with the filth or your waste.

We, Are not the same.

Just as the animals are diverse so are we. Just because a percentage of us run drugs and weed doesn’t mean we all follow that same deed. We all want nothing more than acceptance for who we are and what we stand for. Not to be idolized not to be criminalized but just to be realized. To be accepted. And not to be hated.

We, Are angry.

Rather than separate the good from the bad you decide to rely on the biased opinion to group us all together in both the good and bad where you comment more on the bad. Rather than finding the reason why we are not succeeding in school and fixing the reason you decide that more placement tests are necessary when you fail to see. 1 in 5 high school kids qualify as clinically depressed from the stress alone. That high school suicide, dropout, and self harm rates are climbing higher with each year. That while you are berating us for not getting any jobs you fail to see that you are taking all of our jobs. Because your retirement can’t pay the bills and you never finished college so instead of taking fields that are needed you fill out the entry jobs that are meant for us coming out of high school. You were supposed to guide us. You were supposed to be our role model. You were supposed to set an example for us. But you never did, you simply dumped the problems of a broken economy, a failing society, a bitter humanity on our shoulders. Expecting us to fix it.

I, am determined.

Determined to make a life for myself out of the wreckage of this country you gave us I am determined to succeed where you failed in making this country great again. Not as some glory obsessed president or hypocritical politician but as me. As a fellow american, human, and friend. I will change this country, not all at once not with laws, but by helping, reaching out. One person… at a time. I am determined to live for myself, in the future I set for myself and not one laid out for me.

I, am me. And you, are you. So decide for yourself. Who. Are. You?
