We live in boxes.

The lines people draw seem completely arbitrary to me. What is the difference between two brands of religious? Between two countries? They all tell me it’s so important, like these differences are what define us.

We are not that, we are this.

I dream of a world where the sins of our fathers won’t be on our shoulders

a world where forgiveness comes before revenge

where hatred and anger

melt away like the borderlines we used to draw.

When in fact we define ourselves by the ways we are similar. How weird is that?

Human nature is so fickle, short lived fleeting. it is much easier to hate than to accept, because the idea of

corruption

terrifies us, and we have this obsession with loyalty, with belonging, with being in the us and not the them but what makes them a them and not an us? I have never understood.

Maybe one day, we can live in an age liberated from the burden of all this history

all these unforgiveable actions

all these stigmas, ancient tensions

maybe one day, we can just live, just be,

without the kind of desperation that leaves

children’s corpses hollowed out and rotting in the streets.
