We Regret to Inform You

We regret to inform you

We are unable to offer you

We have not selected you

Again

And again

And again

Each opening lead to another shrink

Self esteem plummeting

Deeper and deeper into myself

Others announcements of joy

Others commencements of bright futures

My disappointments stretching for miles and miles

A moment of despair

And pity

And heartbreak

Leads to a moment of realization

And perspective

And understanding

Nothing is handed over for the mere sake of handing over

Only work and work and work

And then maybe

But it won’t come with ease

It won’t come as expected

And it won’t come without loss
