We Still Survived

Born in a world where I'm the most hated,

yet we still survived...

Where even the men who claimed they loved us turned their backs on us,

yet we still survived...

HIV is the sixth cause of death for us,

yet we still survived...

We are called ugly, monkeys, and the scum of the Earth,

yet we still survived...

Black women are an incredibly strong group of individuals and continue to suffer through hate that we do not deserve.

We have survived and endured centuries of hate, including self-hate, and that is the most awesome thing i've witnessed throughout my entire life. I am proud to be this Awesome person known as a Black Woman in America.
